Thilaana, Thilaana Dance Competition & Drama

Bharathi Kalai Mandram successfully conducted a group dance competition entitled "Thilaana Thilaana" for the members' children at the Indian Arts Circle on Friday, 22 December 2000.

The children were segregated into two groups. The first group comprised of children between the ages of 6 to 10 and the second comprised of children between the ages of 11 to 16. There were three categories - Classical, Folk Dance and Medley. (Rules of the Competition)

In all, eight teams participated in the Competition. The participants showed off their skill, their well designed costumes and danced their way into the hearts of the audience. The efforts of the dance teachers and the parents' commitment were evident from the wonderful display by the children.

The ladies of BKM staged a thriller entitled, " Mudivu Enna?" after the dance competition. The plot revolved around the murder of the daughter-in-law (Mala Sunder) of the house and everyone in the family becoming a suspect. The tough, no-nonsense Inspector (Mala Murali) interrogates everyone and no one is spared.

Doubts are cast on the mother-in-law (Sathya Nagarajan) for her constant bickering with the deceased, on the maid (Mala Sadasivam) for stumbling on the dead body and so on. The Inspector with her ingenuity, skill and thorough investigation finds the culprits (yes! they are two of them) and arrests them. It was a thriller to the core with the audience waiting with bated breath for the plot to unfold.
