Raji's captivating Musical Performance

Raji Gopalakrishnan gave a rewarding musical experience in her debut performance in Kuwait, on the occasion of Dussera on 11 October 2000 at the Indian Arts Circle. Raji sang the traditional kirtanas of Thiagaraja in a restrained and relaxed manner and also provided a temperate alapana interpretation of the ragas Hindolam and Ganamurthe. At the same time, her singing of the Bharathiar's famous Kannamma padalgal in the lilting ragas of Chenjurutti and Bhairavi automatically transported the audience to a different world.

Hemalatha provided an excellent violin support while Mani played mridungam like a true masestro. Santhoshkuumar in Kanjira proved a valuable new find for percussion support.

All in all, it was a day to remember for the music lovers in Kuwait.

The evening ended with a sumptuous dinner.
