Contributions towards Earthquake Relief
Bharathi Kalai Mandram wishes to thank all its members and other contributors for their generous contributions for providing relief to the victims that were affected by the earthquake that struck on 26 January 2001. (NM indicates Non members).Cash donations received by the Embassy of India in Kuwait till 19 February 2001 have crossed INR 2 crores.
Bharathi Kalai Mandram has handed over INR 121,376 to the Embassy of India, Kuwait towards the Prime Minister's Relief Fund. An amount of INR 89,333 has been donated to the Ramakrishna Mission and a similar amount of INR 89,333 to the Missionaries of Charity (founded by Mother Teresa).
The total collections of INR 244,855 from the Raffle conducted in association with Frontliners, SIARA and SICS on 15 February 2001 was also handed over to Embassy of India, Kuwait towards the Prime Minister's Relief Fund.
Procedure applicable to make cash donations to 'PM's Relief Fund,' is as follows:
- Contributors in Kuwait may deposit their contributions with the Indian Embassy in Kuwait or in any branch of the State Bank of India for transfer to the PM's National Relief Fund.
- Donations may also be made directly into the Central Bank of India, New Delhi/Mumbai's following accounts stating beneficiary 'PM's National Relief Fund, SB A/c with Janpath, New Delhi.'

Pound Sterling: A/c No. 203253-80412368 with Barclays Bank, Plc, London
Euro: A/c No. 4112222001 with Citi Bank, Frankfurt.To enable to send an appropriate receipt, please furnish details to the bankers in M.T.100 Formats through SWIFT - SWIFT Code "CBININ BBAPAR."
Many members have also contributed by way of donating clothes, blankets, food items, medicines and other essentials.
